Favorite Christmas Traditions

NH Wedding Photographer | Seacoast NH

If you have followed me on social media long enough you will know that I am one of those “Christmas people”. You know, the ones that decorate on Halloween and listen to Christmas music too early. I know, it is a bit obnoxious, but I just LOVE it! Christmas is just magical. As you can imagine, my Decembers get pretty booked up with fun Christmas traditions. Here is a list of some of the fun things that my family does/did in the month of December, feel free to steal some ideas!

1. Boston Ballet-The Nutcracker.

This production is absolutely brilliant. My mother-in-law and I have been a handful of times. If you have a chance to go, GO!

2. Tag and cut a real tree from a Christmas Tree Farm.

Nothing really beats finding your own tree, cutting it down, and dragging it back to your car. Right? Bonus if the tree farm has hot chocolate and donuts!

3. Cookie Swap Party

This is so awesome, for obvious reasons…who doesn’t like cookies? I also create a fake cookie for the kids made of peanut butter, dates, and oatmeal. They can have as many as they want and they totally think they’re eating cookies. #momhack

4. Attend holiday parades.

My son is obsessed with trucks, so getting to see all of the surrounding town’s big fire trucks is heaven for him.

5. Look at neighborhood Christmas Lights.

Have everyone get in their PJs, make some hot chocolate, and go for a drive around some neighborhoods searching for the best lights! I have seen some fun Christmas Light scavenger hunts online that you can print out to enhance the fun too!

6. Grinch Night

The Grinch is my favorite Christmas movie. So we pick a night and make green cookies, eat green ice cream floats, green popcorn, and sometimes drink green margaritas…ayyy! We wear our Grinch garb and watch all of the Grinch movies!

7. Visit a Live Nativity

Find one in your area and go! It is such a cool experience.

8. Go to a Christmas Concert

Anywhere!

9. Attend The Christmas Carol play

This has gotten increasingly more difficult with young children, but it is a favorite!

10. Wrapping Party

My friends were totally not into this, I tried it for a few years and it turned out being a bust. Maybe your friends will be more into it! Haha! Wine, Mariah Carey Christmas tunes, and wrapping all of your presents together by the tree! What’s not to love?

Put some of these and more together with a Family Advent Calendar.

I found one on the internet that I liked, find it here.
